Built in 1803, the Samuel Durfee House is centrally located downtown in Newport’s Yachting Village. This Federal Period Inn is just a short walk to the restaurants and shops downtown and just 1 1/2 blocks from Bellevue Avenue with its mansions, shops and the Tennis Hall of Fame.

Relax in luxurious comfort. All guest rooms and suites at this bed and breakfast inn are uniquely decorated and appointed with guests comfort and needs in mind. Some rooms offer private deck, gas fireplace , sitting room or whirlpool tub. All guest rooms feature a queen or king bed, private bath, television, small refrigerator, Keurig and wine glasses and corkscrew.

Guests enjoy a delicious gourmet breakfast each morning served in our dining room, guest patio, or delivered to your room. After a day of touring Newport, return to find home baked treats waiting for you.

Our guests also enjoy complimentary parking and wifi. Beach towels and robes are also available. Innkeepers Michael and Heather de Pinho provide you with all of the amenities you need to ensure a relaxing stay.

Reservation/Cancellation Policies:

Cancellation

To guarantee your reservation, a one night deposit, per room booked, is required. A refund less $25 cancellation fee per room cancelled will be issued if cancelled 21 days or more in advance of the date of your arrival. If cancelled less than 21 days in advance a refund will only be given if we are able to rebook the entire cost of the reservation, the $25 fee will apply. There is no refund for no-shows or early departures.

Check-in

Check-in is from 3 to 6 PM. In addition to in-person check-in, we now offer self check-in if you prefer. Advance arrangements must be made for self check-in and check-ins after 6 PM. Check-out is by 11am.

Off-street parking

Off-street parking is provided, one space per room.

Smoking

In accordance with state fire law, there is no smoking or vaping allowed in the Samuel Durfee House and the use of candles is not permitted in guest bedrooms.

Children Restrictions

Children 8 and over are welcome. Children are included in the number of guests allowed in each room.

Pets

We do not accept pets.

Air Conditioned

The Samuel Durfee House is air conditioned in the summer months.

Guest Rooms

All of our guest rooms can only accommodate two adults. The Doris Duke Suite can accommodate up to 3 people with advance notice, there is an additional fee per person per night over 2 people. The Harrison Suite can accommodate two adults and one child age 8-17, for an additional fee.
