You can’t come to a place rich in history like Newport and not take a walking tour. Most people don’t realize how significant the area was in America’s early days. A Newport history tour will introduce you to times long gone by but whose echoes are still heard today.

Newport History Tours is Newport’s leading, local tour group, presenting outstanding walking tours since 2004 through the joint partnership of two history-minded non-profits: the Newport Historical Society and the Newport Restoration Foundation.

All regular tours begin at 10:30am

Golden to Gilded
Sundays, May and June – Sundays & Wednesdays, July and August
From Newport’s colonial Golden Age to Gilded Age summer colony, discover the transformation of the city and its people.

Rogues & Scoundrels
Mondays & Fridays, May through August
See where scoundrels lived, pirates profited and criminals were punished. Find out why this colony was known as “Rogue’s Island.”

Discover Colonial Newport
Saturdays, May and June – Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays, July and August
Hear stories of remarkable entrepreneurship and religious diversity during Newport’s colonial period.

Super Saturday Tour
Super Saturday Tours, available the first Saturday of the month at 11am, are special returns of fan-favorite tours.

Tour of the Month
Tour of the Month Tours are typically scheduled to occur at 11am, unless otherwise specified, and are on a focused topic chosen by a guest guide.

Newport History Tours also offers site-specific tours of various, historical buildings around town, such as the Colony House, The Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House, and the Whitehorne House Museum. Let them literally walk you through all three centuries of Newport – and American – history!
