Hawthorne House

Hawthorne House of Newport is located in the city’s south end (Fifth Ward). If you are seeking an “away-from-it-all” experience in a lovely family neighborhood, this private three-room suite offers the conveniences and comfort of home. Your privacy is assured as we accept only one booking at a time . . . in other words, you will be our only guests . . . there are no other guests in residence.

We offer a warm and genuine welcome to our visitors. The suite is nicely appointed and well-equipped. A French door from the lovely queen bedroom opens to a private deck complete with patio furniture, a large gas grill, and a spacious yard. A separate living/dining room with a queen sofa bed, dining table, and generously-stocked kitchenette provides ample living space. Due to the privacy of this suite, we are happy to welcome children. They will be delighted to find a nearby playground and family beach – and are welcome to run and play in the large back yard. This home is accessible for most wheelchairs – please ask us for specifics. We also welcome well-behaved pets – please ask for our ‘Pet Policy’.

Your suite also includes a private entrance, driveway parking, flat screen cable televisions, free wi-fi, beach towels and beach chairs. Oh, did we mention your helpful hosts? We are located in a quiet residential area (‘Fifth Ward’) within walking distance to downtown (1.2 miles), a local family-friendly beach (0.7 miles), Salve Regina campus (0.5 miles), and Breakers Mansion on the Cliff Walk (0.9 miles). We are 1.3 miles from Fort Adams State Park. Murphy Field (dog-friendly), with basketball and tennis courts, and a children’s play area, is directly across the street.

Wheelchair / Other Mobility Needs: For most guests with mobility needs (walkers, canes, standard-sized manual wheelchairs, etc.) or for those who can easily stand and pivot to transfer, this suite should prove accommodating. Welcome to the East Bay Bed and Breakfast in Jamestown, Rhode Island.  Here, Innkeepers Diane and Paul Cardin have been entertaining guests at the East Bay Bed and Breakfast for the past four years.

The four rooms of the East Bay Bed and Breakfast include the Bayside, the East Ferry, the Lighthouse, and the Narragansett.  Each room has its own unique style and atmosphere.  For guests looking for a cozy, homey stay, the Cardins recommend the Lighthouse Room.  This charming room for two features silky white and cream colors on the soft queen sized bed.  The Narragansett is the top choice for those looking for a romantic getaway. This spacious room features a steel-framed king sized bed and two luxurious armchairs.  It is no wonder the Narragansett continues to be one of the most requested rooms.

As for attractions and activities, historic Jamestown, Rhode Island does not disappoint.  Only a half block from Village Center and a few minutes from Newport, the East Bay Bed and Breakfast is right in the middle of everything you might want to explore while in Rhode Island.  During summer and fall months, take a ferry boat to Newport from East Ferry Wharf, which is only a two minute walk away.  During winter months, explore downtown Newport and all it has to offer.  There is always something going on here, no matter what time of year you decide to visit.
