Hawthorne House

Hawthorne House of Newport is located in the city’s south end (Fifth Ward). If you are seeking an “away-from-it-all” experience in a lovely family neighborhood, this private three-room suite offers the conveniences and comfort of home. Your privacy is assured as we accept only one booking at a time . . . in other words, you will be our only guests . . . there are no other guests in residence.

We offer a warm and genuine welcome to our visitors. The suite is nicely appointed and well-equipped. A French door from the lovely queen bedroom opens to a private deck complete with patio furniture, a large gas grill, and a spacious yard. A separate living/dining room with a queen sofa bed, dining table, and generously-stocked kitchenette provides ample living space. Due to the privacy of this suite, we are happy to welcome children. They will be delighted to find a nearby playground and family beach – and are welcome to run and play in the large back yard. This home is accessible for most wheelchairs – please ask us for specifics. We also welcome well-behaved pets – please ask for our ‘Pet Policy’.

We are 1.3 miles from Fort Adams State Park. Murphy Field (dog-friendly), with basketball and tennis courts, and a children’s play area, is directly across the street.

Wheelchair / Other Mobility Needs: For most guests with mobility needs (walkers, canes, standard-sized manual wheelchairs, etc.) or for those who can easily stand and pivot to transfer, this suite should prove accommodating. Bird Song Cottage

Bird Song Cottage is a newly restored 1920’s house with an award-winning garden. Nicely appointed with comfortably elegant period furnishings, the cottage is centrally located in one of Newport’s nicest residential neighborhoods. A leisurely ten minute stroll along the banks of nearby Easton’s Pond will take you to Easton’s Beach or Newport’s famous Cliff Walk. Treat yourself to this beautiful walk lined with wild flowers and enjoy the swans and mallards that inhabit this lovely waterscape. All you need is your bathing suit, I provide the towels and chairs! Historic Belleview Avenue will take you to the Newport Mansions,the International Tennis Hall of Fame and many fine shops and is a short walk through the the tree-lined streets of this quiet neighborhood. Ten minutes beyond this will take you through the Historic Hill District and bring you to the busy waterfront. There you can enjoy a variety of night-life, fine dining and many interesting shops.

Built in 1803, the Samuel Durfee House is centrally located downtown in Newport’s Yachting Village.  This Federal Period Inn is just a short walk to the restaurants and shops downtown and just 1 1/2 blocks from Bellevue Avenue with its mansions, shops and the Tennis Hall of Fame.

Adele Turner Inn

This historic Newport Bed And Breakfast, built to house sea captains, is believed to be Rhode Island’s oldest lodging house. It sits in one of Newport’s most historic, in-town neighborhoods, amidst two to three-century-old homes. It is the ideal Newport B&B.
