The Greenvale Vineyards Harvest Festival is scheduled for Saturday, November 12th – and you’re invited! Come help celebrate the completion of the annual grape harvest with live music, food, and wine tastings, of course!
The annual Greenvale Vineyards Harvest Festival is always a good time. Getting out to the vineyards with all the sights and smells of autumn and the winemaking process is a refreshing and fun way to get into the season.
Greenvale Vineyards, in Portsmouth along the Sakonnet River, has 24 acres of grapes producing 3,500 cases of wine per year. The estate was built in 1863 by John Barstow, great-great-great grandfather of the current owner, and is on the state and national registers of historic places. What was once an award-winning dairy farm is now an award-winning vineyard!
At the 2016 Greenvale Vineyards Harvest Festival, you’ll have the opportunity to walking tours of the Greenvale Vineyards estate. See the vineyards, learn the process of growing, harvesting, and processing the grapes for wine production. Then enjoy a taste or three of Greenvale Vineyards’ award winning, estate-grown wines.
Visiting a winery is a great way to not only learn about the winemaking process but also to make a memory that comes flooding back every time you take a sip of that particular wine. And yes: Greenvale Vineyards will have bottles on hand for you to buy and take back home.
Beyond the vineyards and wines, the annual Harvest Festival also offers live music. While this year’s entertainment is still under wraps, previous years have included excellent local talent. Come prepared for toe-tapping good tunes!
The other attraction at the annual Harvest Festival is the food. What could be better after a vineyard tour and a taste of wine than some hot, fresh, local food? Again, the food vendors for this year’s festival have yet to be announced but, if it’s anything like last year, you can count on plenty of excellent, local fare. Yum!
Greenvale Vineyards Harvest Festival also includes tractor rides and face painting for the kiddies. Various yard games will also be set up, including the bean-bag toss game, cornhole, and a large-format version of Jenga! There will be a firepit, too, to sit alongside with your wine.
So come on out and enjoy autumn at the 2016 Greenvale Vineyards Harvest Festival!
